The transition between Primary School and High School can be a tough one, but it doesn’t have to be. With the right strategies in place, times of transition can be made a lot easier.
We spoke to Headspace to talk about what you or your child can do during this time. Here’s what they recommended:
Feeling stressed or anxious when under pressure is a common response, but it is still important to maintain a healthy social and emotional well-being.
The switch from Primary School to High School can be stressful for a number of reasons including an increase in homework, new friend circles and different teachers and classes.
Headspace said it is important to change your self-talk, and make it positive when you begin to feel stressed.
“Replace your negative thoughts with more realistic ones. Try to look for a more rational spin on your situation or think of strategies to tackle your problems rather than giving up hope”.
