In-home care and social support for people with temporary health conditions

BCS can help people living in the ACT who have a temporary or episodic health condition.  Support provided helps with activities of daily living during recovery.

Eligible circumstances include:

• Temporary or episodic conditions, including mental health
• Post hospital care and support
• A disability that is not ‘significant and permanent’, as is required for NDIS eligibility
• Services are for individuals under the age of 65 (or under age 50 for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people).

Supports offered include:

• Domestic Assistance (help with housework)
• Social Supports (help to get out and about including shopping assistance)
• Garden Maintenance (minor repairs)
• Social Groups to meet new people and get connected
• Medical Transport
• Care Coordination.

This assistance is available for 12 weeks during recovery.  Support may be able to continue beyond 12 weeks in exceptional circumstances.
