On 11 March 2020, the World Health Organisation declared the new strain of coronavirus called ‘novel coronavirus’ or ‘COVID-19′, a pandemic.
Belconnen Community Service is aware of the risks this poses and is monitoring the situation closely. We are prepared to act swiftly to protect our participants and employees if the need arises.

The interest of our community is at the heart of all BCS operations. We are closely monitoring the situation and have developed a comprehensive organisational plan to address any and all risks associated with COVID-19, in line with the latest national health advice.
BELCONNEN COMMUNITY CENTRE CLOSED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE
Following Federal Government restrictions, Belconnen Community Centre will be closed as of 12pm on 25 March 2020.
All NDIS programs will be put on hold until further notice. However, BCS will continue to maintain contact with current participants online and on the phone.
The NDIS support coordination team will continue to work remotely. Call 6264 0263 to contact them.
All programs that run from Belconnen Community Centre will be temporarily put on hold, including the INVOLVE program, Tiny Tumblers and Move & Groove, and all programs for seniors. Yoga and Qigong will also be put on hold until further notice.
The Belconnen Community Centre gym will be closed indefinitely. As a result, social badminton sessions will be put on hold until further notice.
SOCIAL BEAN CAFE
The Social Bean cafe that runs out of Belconnen Community Centre will continue to operate as a takeaway service.
BELCONNEN YOUTH CENTRE CLOSED, OPERATIONS TO RUN ONLINE
Belconnen Youth Centre will also be closed until further notice. However, the youth engagement team is making arrangements to transition as many youth services and programs as possible online.
Case management will continue on a one-on-one basis, online and on the phone.
SUPPORTIVE TENANCY SERVICE
Operations are continuing remotely where possible.
These services will continue on a one-on-one basis with existing clients, online and over the phone.
BUNGEE YOUTH RESILIENCE PROGRAM
Bungee programs, including face-to-face counselling, have been put on hold.
However, counselling services for existing clients continue over the phone and online. Bungee is also taking referrals for future clients.

EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION AND CARE SERVICES
BCS’s Early Childhood Centres are still operational, following national health advice. There will be an immediate notification on this page and to parents if this decision changes.
CONNECT & GROW PLAYGROUPS – POSTPONED
Due to the current climate and advice from Australian Health Authorities, in consultation with Westfield Belconnen, we have made the decision to postpone our Connect & Grow Playgroups. We apologise for any inconvenience caused and we look forward to bringing back our fun family events in the future.
BURNOUT GALLERY EXHIBITION OPENING – CANCELLED
The ‘Burnout’ exhibition at Belconnen Community Gallery will be open to the public, however, the management team have decided to cancel the official opening scheduled for 18 March 2020. The Gallery will be open until 6pm on 18 March for patrons who wish to view the exhibition, and afterwards will be open 9am-5pm Monday to Friday.
