‘Transit’ explores dream like depictions of the Swiss and Indian landscapes recreated through digital fabrication of the photographs taken in both countries.
Through this exhibition, Amandeep Kaur depicts varied dream like states where perplexing environments are juxtaposed together using photographs from her recent travels through Switzerland and India.
Amandeep often works with multiple themes that are directly related to ideas of cultural identity, transmigration, complexities and triumphs of belonging to multiple spatial environments. Her new works are depictions of transitional dreams, where everything exists in the state of ‘liminality’ between the different spatial environments in the two countries. The colourful photo-montages are inspired by mythological stories, symbolism and colours of India, the Swiss cities of Solothurn and Basel, and the Bollywood movie DDLJ filmed in Switzerland in the 90’s.
