BCS 2017 Annual General Meeting
October 31 @ 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm
Join us for our 2017 Annual General Meeting as we celebrate and reflect on successful collaborations during the 2016/17 financial year.
Our guest speaker for this AGM is Emma Sckrabei, Training and Employment Manager with Ginninderry. Emma will talk about the Spark Training and Employment Initiative. BCS’s partnership with Ginninderry’s Spark Initiative is helping people who are disengaged from the labour market to develop skills, qualifications and careers in childcare, aged and disability care and construction.
The program will also include the screening of three short films. Two of these showcase different Spark programs. The third is by young Aboriginal film maker, Blake who completed his first film as part of a collaborative project between BCS, Tuggeranong Arts Centre and Black and White Films. Blake’s film, Ngadhi Dabaamlang is about the local Wiradjuri artist, Duncan Smith. It was shot on location in Belconnen Community Gallery and had its premiere screening in Belconnen Community Theatre as part of the 2017 Canberra Short Film Festival. Blake was awarded the inaugural Belco Flicks prize for his film.
A proposed change to BCS’s constitution will be moved at the meeting:
24.3. Officers shall be eligible for re-election. The same person shall not be eligible for election or appointment to the same office for more than three consecutive years.
24.3. Officers shall be eligible for re-election. Generally, the same person shall not be eligible for election or appointment to the same office for more than four consecutive years. Eligibility for a consecutive fifth year may occur only in the case of exceptional circumstances and with the express permission of members at the AGM.
Light refreshments will be served after the meeting in the community centre foyer.
