Belconnen Community Gallery invites artists aged over 55 years to exhibit their work in Belconnen Community Gallery for Seniors Week 2019. This exhibition is open to amateur and professional artists and any medium is welcome. Artists may submit up to three pieces, depending on the size of works.
Belconnen Community Gallery is located in the friendly and accessible Belconnen Community Centre. There is no cost to exhibit. Works may be offered for sale and no commission is charged. We also welcome works that are not for sale.
Belconnen Community Gallery’s last open call exhibition for Seniors Week was in 2015 and the gallery team thought it was about time to do it again. It’s always interesting to see the diversity in the artwork older people submit. Some people have a crafting hobby they’ve been doing all their life. Over the years they’ve developed their own distinctive style. Others have been professional artists and are absolute masters of their craft. And others still have taken up painting or drawing later in life as a hobby and this might be their first ever exhibition.
Belconnen Community Gallery curator Ben Drysdale said, “There’s always a lot of work to display but somehow we always manage to fit it on the walls. I think it’s a great way to bring people from all walks of life together to celebrate Seniors Week.”
Submissions Close 8 March 2019
Exhibition Dates: 18 March – 5 April 2019
