Belconnen Community Service (BCS) has teamed up with Boomerang Bags to make sustainable alternative to plastic bags available to people in the Belconnen area.
Using donated fabric, the BCS Sewing Group began making Boomerang Bags in July 2018 as part of the Plastic Free July movement.
Now all their lovely creations have found a home at The Source Bulk Foods – Belconnen.
If you find yourself in the store at Westfield Belconnen with too many items and no bags to carry them in, you can use one of the BCS-made bags.
Boomerang Bags was founded in Queensland and quickly became a global movement. The concept is pretty simple. If you’re at the shops and realise you have forgotten your bags, you can borrow one of the Boomerang Bags and return it to the store the next time you come in. Or you can lend the bags to someone else who needs one and watch them boomerang around your community.
