Community Transport: with transport@bcs
transport@bcs receives funding from the Department of Social Services (DSS) and ACT Health Directorates Home and Community Care (HACC) We coordinate a friendly, safe, flexible and reliable community transport service for people who are ageing and/or people living with a disability and their carers living independently in our community. Providing a door to door service, our focus is on promoting the independence and community involvement of program participants. For a small fee Community Transport is provided to:
- Medical and paramedical appointments
- Social and recreational activities
- Shopping trips
- Group outings
- BCS coordinated social groups are also supported by transport@bcs
transport@bcs operates 7 days per week between the hours of 7:00am and 7:00pm, (excluding public holidays and weekend transport is currently dependent on the availability of volunteers) with bookings and administration available Monday to Friday from 9:00am – 5:00pm. On April 1st 2014, transport@bcs commenced operations of an ACT wide transport service for those aged over 65 or for those over 50 who identify as being of an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander background. This expanded service is now available to eligible people living anywhere in the ACT and creates an environment of transport choice.
October 1st 2014 is another important milestone in the long history of our transport program as transport@bcs introduced a new wheelchair accessible commuter to our transport fleet. This vehicle will be used to provide wheelchair accessible transport and group bookings and is an exciting addition to our program as we work to provide a highly responsive Community Transport Program.

Go Social: transport@bcs recently launched “Go Social”, a new transport initiative with a focus on the social and community engagement of our eligible participants and offers weekend social transport, weekday Shopper Shuttles and a home visiting service.

Belconnen Community Bus Program
Coordinated by transport@bcs, the Belconnen Community Bus Program offers a responsive coordinated, flexible regional transport service for people who are isolated, have mobility issues, social or other barriers to accessing mainstream transport services. With a focus on social activities, transport support is available for shopping outings, group activities as well as social and recreational activities.
Offering wheelchair accessible transport, the Belconnen Community Bus Service is available for seniors, people living with a disability and/or experiencing mobility or confidence issues, parents with young children as well as residents of aged care facilities. The Belconnen Community Bus Program generally operates Monday – Friday between the hours of 9:00am – 3:00pm excluding public holidays.
