This program area provides a diverse range of activities for people experiencing mental health issues or living with a disability. Activities are organised to meet identified needs and participant interests, therefore the programs are constantly changing. A brief description is below; please click for more information.
Open Art: focuses on art activities for people experiencing mental illness - the program is also open to mainstream consumers. The Outreach Program provides a rehabilitation pathway for consumers with enduring issues through one-to-one and small group sessions with an art therapist. Programs are co-ordinated from Belconnen yet located across Canberra including Tuggeranong and Watson.
Leisure Program: is a recreational, activities and support program for people experiencing mental health issues. Most programs are free or incur a small cost, and referrals are welcome but not necessary. Healthy choices are facilitated through fitness, wellbeing and skill-based activities.
Day to Day Living Program: provides a support service for people experiencing severe and persistent mental illness in Tuggeranong. A welcoming environment is provided to improve daily living skills whilst engaging in social, recreational and educational activities. People participating are encouraged to identify goals and are supported to create a recovery path.
Bridges and Castaways (Community Access Skills Development): are programs supporting people with a disability to reduce social isolation and participate within their community across the ACT. Most activities are term-based and include cooking, art, self-care, music, dance and fitness; the majority incur a term fee and some involve excursions. Transport and care co-ordination may be provided where needed - the programs include excursions and are constantly changing to meet client interests.
