Belconnen Community Centre’s Arts and Culture Program is running a free short course, “MEMORY COLLAGE”. Participants will learn several techniques of collage, starting with composition of photographs and other materials in different ways using different methods to create a 2 or 3 dimensional artwork.The individual artworks will be your statement on identity and a placing of your memories and stories in our present society. At the end of the course your works will be exhibited in the Belconnen Gallery! COURSE RUNS WEEKLY on Wednesday afternoons in the art room at BCC from 1-4pm. NO EXPERIENCE NEEDED! ENROL NOW! Learning the Land - On the 15th and 16th of March 2008, the Learning the Land project took place at the ACT scouts camp site, Camp Cottermouth. The aim of the project was to increase awareness of local environmental issues affecting the Cotter area while also developing new ways of ‘looking’ at the local landscape. Learning to ‘look’ at the land differently was approached in two art workshops held each afternoon. The art work in this exhibition reflects the increases in both intellectual and aesthetic awareness experienced by these young people during this project. You can see some of the images here
