Belconnen Family Day Care

Belconnen Family Day Care (BFDC) has had a busy but great year. In November 2010, Luz Morris received the “Family Day Care – Carer with More than Five Years’ Experience Award”. Luz has been with BFDC for more than 25 years and this award was truly well deserved.

The team at BFDC has spent much of this year focussing on the upcoming implementation of the new National Quality Framework (NQF). The application of the NQF will commence on January 1, 2012 and BFDC has developed tools that will assist educators with its implementation. With the NQF there is a requirement for all educators to hold or be working towards a Certificate III in Children Services. BFDC has engaged with a registered training organisation to deliver this training in a way that is Family Day Care Friendly. The educators are progressing through the training which is testament to their commitment to the children in their care and to ensuring that quality is always a priority.

Alongside of this, Family Day Care continues to provide care for 145 families in BFDC families across 35 home based educators and supported by three Coordinators and a Manager.

The Family Day Care Team has enjoyed working with the children, families and educators this year and we are looking forward to the changes that the new financial year will bring.
