The last financial year at the centre saw a lot of planning and preparation for renovations at the end of 2011.
Our Planning included looking at how to better equip the Centre with storage, practicality and the best use of colour in our open, bright centre.
The end of the financial year reports were fantastic. Our surplus was beyond expectations, which was due to the dedication and hard work from staff in the Centre and also the great effort made by the children’s administration team.
Our end of year Children’s Christmas Concert was once again a success with a visit from Santa and some great performances in plays and through songs by the talented children. Staff were very touched this year by the speech given by one of our mothers at the centre. She told us of the great journey she has shared with the staff and the Centre over the past seven years and could not praise staff enough. This along with written comments makes staff feel very appreciated for all their hard work, educating and nurturing. Families contributed money which was kindly given to us as gift. The money was to be spent only on the staff as recognition of their hard work and dedication to the children at the centre.
We continue to retain our wonderful staff here at the centre. Unfortunately we did lose our valuable Assistant Director Melissa to bigger and better opportunities. However we welcomed a new Toddler room leader Therese who has been fantastic.
The majority our staff are long term employees whose tenure range from between five and ten years, which is very valuable in the Children’s Service Industry as it means that there is continuity in caring for the children.
We were fortunate enough to employ our first School Based Apprentice from St Francis Xavier College. This is a great opportunity to train employees whilst in the workplace and Caitlyn has brought a lot of joy and enthusiasm into the workplace. We look forward to continuing a good relationship with the college in the future.
All in all it has been a great year and I look forward to reporting to you next year on our great renovations.
