Behaviour Support Team

In 2010/2011 The Behaviour Support Team provided training sessions to both Parents and Children Service Educators across Canberra.

Educators attended training from Long Day Care Centres, Early Learning Units, Playschools and School Aged Care Programs. We provided training sessions on a wide range of topics including, “Back to Basics” – Behaviour management strategies for new or inexperienced educators. Biting and Tantrums, Environments and Routines, Challenging Behaviour and Team and Staff Stress in the Child Care Environment.

217 Educators attended from over 50 Services and over 40 parents attended our parent night.

Here are what some of the participants had to say.

“The presenters were obviously competent and knowledgeable, and presented it (the training session) in a way that was easy to understand.”

“They are awesome, very intelligent and knowledgeable; they have taught us about the topic very well.”

“The speakers are great. They used real life experiences that occur in childcare centres as examples.”

“Fantastic – They seemed to know their topics and seemed very enthusiastic and passionate.”

“I have felt great coming out of this training and you opened my eyes on things I need to change. I felt welcomed and able to call you anytime. P.S You also made me feel like I was worthy in my job.”

The Behaviour Support Team has enjoyed working with centres and parents to increase the range of strategies they have available to them to enhance children’s developmental opportunities.
