Local Area Coordination

Over the past twelve months Local Area Co-ordination has worked with many people with varying disabilities, requiring assistance to help them achieve their personal goals.

One of our participants is Mathew. Mathew has been with the program since February. When we first met Mathew his goals was to meet new people, play lawn bowls and do a course in designing computer games so that he can one day he design his own game.

Local Area co-ordination was able to assist by connecting him with a generous member of a local lawn bowls club who was willing to do one on one coaching with Mathew. After a few weeks of him receiving coaching his coach let Mathew know about a social bowls group that meet every Friday. Local Area Co-ordination attended the Friday lawn bowls group with Mathew and made sure he was comfortable. Now Mathew continues to go to lawn bowls and has developed some great friendships.

Local Area Co-ordination has continued to support Mathew in his pursuit to do a course in computer game design. We have sort support from the CIT, attended information session and enrolled Mathew to participate in a course in animation in 2012.

With Local Area Co-ordinations assistance Mathew continues to achieve his life goals and participates in his local community.
