BCS, Canberra Institute of Technology and Riverview Projects’ SPARK Initiative worked in collaboration to deliver a new and innovative training-to-employment model, with industry work experience placements, within BCS Early Childhood Centres.
The future is looking positive for the thirteen participants, who began their training journey on the BCS Childcare Pre-Employment program in July 2016.
“Already it’s fantastic to see the personal growth and transformation with the group, which includes women and men, young and mature aged, all from culturally and linguistically diverse and Indigenous backgrounds” said Emma Sckrabei, SPARK Training and Employment Manager. “When they started, many participants presented with a few challenges in their life and we are working closely with them to ensure they are building their capacity to become work ready and successfully secure employment.”
Now they’re all well on the way to completing the six-month program and receiving their qualifications in Certificate III in Early Childhood Education & Care, along with a Senior First Aid Certificate.
The Capital Region Community Services Childcare Pre Employment Program was a finalist in the 2016 ACT Training Awards, under the Industry Collaboration category. The awards were held on September 1 at the Realm Hotel.
